Section 2: Babylonian writings

On the second tablet we see that Gilgamesh and Enkidu become friends after fighting with each other, after this they kiss each other, which may be just a jester of greeting and love or could show homosexual beheaver. This type of immorality would not be beyond the Babylonians poor view of morality.

The so-called gods in this story include Enlil, Shamash and Ishtar.

Assignment
Read tablet two and answer the following three questions.

1.) Who is Enkidu? (What does he look like? What does he act like? Where did he come from? Is he holy?)

2.) Who is the monster that Gilgamesh the tyrant and Enkidu  going to attempt to slay?

3.) What sin did the prostitute help Enkidu commit? If you find this question difficult see
Deuteronomy 22:5 and then read the first nine lines of the Epic of Gilgamesh.
