Section 4: Babylonian writtings

In this section we learn that Shamash is symbolized by the sun and was in fact thought to be or in the sun. The belief that the sun was a god was held by the Egyptians, Native shaman's, Wicca and others throughout history.

Assignment
Read tablet four and answer the following questions.

1.) Name three other religions that see the sun as a god or a symbol of a god.

2.) What did Gilgamesh speak to, hoping to hear from Shamash in a dream?

3.) Lebanon is mentioned in the fourth tablet of this epic, who was the king of Tyre in Solomon's time?

4.) Gilgamesh used flour to commit what sin in order to hear from the pagan sun god Shamash?
(For help read Deuteronomy 18:10 and Leviticus 19:31.)
